I am preparing for my final cosmetic surgery next week. This surgery should be a piece of cake. Dave and I are also celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary next week. Since I don't think I will feel much like celebrating next week, this weekend will be our anniversary. I am looking forward to some time away. Last year, we went to Ocean City, MD for our anniversary. When we returned home, I found the tumor and the rest of May was spent trying to figure out what was going on with my body. I can't believe it has been a year already! Some parts of this past year don't even feel real - I think my mind has tried to erase the memory of chemo permanently!
Other good news is that Dawson was discharged from speech therapy today. He was tested and scored within the normal limits for his age. I feel like we can breathe a sigh of relief in so many areas of our lives. David is doing well in school and loving it. Dave is returning to his classes this month. Life is moving on! I look forward to a summer with the boys where our biggest worry is, "What time do we go to the pool today?"

Dawson Update
We had Dawson's follow-up appointment today regarding his "bump." The diagnosis at this time is still an inflammation. It still may be an atypical mycobacterial infection, but these infections can take up to 6 weeks to show on the culture. At 6 weeks, they will determine if it is an infection. In the meantime, we are going to meet with infectious disease to see about the next step. His incision is healing well and he continues to bounce off the walls (this is normal behavior for him.)
The other good news is that he has been discharged from physical therapy. Today was his last session and even one of the other therapists asked his why he was receiving PT. You should see him on the playground . . . he is now a coordinated, confident climber and will not be outdone by David's climbing!

Another day at Longwood
Well, we took advantage of this gorgeous day and headed to Longwood again. I have finally purchased a family pass since we seem to frequent the place. Dave had to stay home and work but we enjoyed it with my parents. Here are some photos.

Dawson update
Well, he is home and jumping around the house! We got home about 2 and he is just starting to really move around and be more like himself. The surgery went well and the doctor actually removed 2 inflamed lymphnodes. We will know the pathology results next week and see if this was some type of infection. He may still need to go on a course of anitbiotics. He doesn't seemed bother by the incision and is doing well. The tricky part is "light activity for 5 days." There is nothing light about my boys' activity!

Fun in Hershey
Dawson and I had our weekend in Hershey. We went to see the Doodlebops, a Disney show complete with songs that get stuck in your head, and Chocolate World in Hershey. My parents also arrived on Friday and are enjoying some time with their grandsons (oh, and Dave and I too.) Our house is preparing for Dawson's surgery in the morning. Dawson thinks the doctor is going to use scissors to cut out his bump and has been seen trying to do it himself. Time to move the scissors. Here are some pictures from the show (Dawson has a "Moe" wig on) and a "chocat mouf." David and Dawson looked extra adorable today for church so we have their picture, too.

It is finished.
After my final radiation treatment, a round of applause from the radiation therapists and a diploma, I breathed a sigh of relief. It really is done. What is left shouldn't be too difficult - my final cosmetic surgery is scheduled in May and 3 more Herceptins.
Our next hurdle is Dawson's surgery next Monday. I told Dawson they were going to cut off his bump and he didn't like that idea, although a month ago he was trying to cut it off with his play sword. He said he just wants a band-aid.
I just don't know what I will do with all of this free time! It won't take me long to fill it - with things like spending time with my family and resting.

Yes - another delay
Radiation was cancelled today - again. There was a mechanical problem with the table I lie on. So, this means that the last treatment SHOULD happen on Monday. I hate having to go into yet another week with this.
